This games sucks so bad, and is horrible autism representation😭
Ok so let's talk about the main character aka the emo looking guy in the thumbnail... I forgot his name and I didn't even pay attention to it even if they showed it cause they NEVER expanded on his character ONCE. His entire character throughout the game is just "I have autism and it sucks so bad" and "No one understands me...", that's it💔
Now in the game they do go over some issues people with autism face either if it's socializing or parents deny it, which let's be honest the story telling executes these issue badly, but the main "conflict" is well... the pink haired girl "Lexie" who's "faking" autism... mind you no one in real life does that anymore, during 2020 yeah probably, but no one does that. Also you maybe wondering why I put "faking" is because another issue in this game is they never clarify ANYTHING.
All Lexie says is "I'm so overstimulated", "I'm hyperfixating on something" and "Sorry I have Autism, but you can't blame me cause of that" or smth along those lines... That is not enough to claim she's faking autism. ALSO back to the mc, they never clarify if was diagnosed or not. In the beginning he asks his mom for a diagnosis, but then near the ending when he get upset at Lexie and confronts her for "faking autism" and that he's autistic himself... YOU WERE NEVER DIAGNOSED??? Yes I understand autistic people can be undiagnosed, but you can't just suddenly claim you do, oh and the ending you're never going to believe what happens...
So mc is walking to class with his headphones, Lexie accidentally breaks his headphones by hitting him with the door, so you'd imagine they would try to make the mc respond in a very appropriate and non harmful way, right? Well wrong because he attacks Lexie, and the game tries justifying it with "he couldn't control it", and that she "deserves" it... One violence is already a harmful autistic stereotype, two even if Lexie was "faking" (again they forgot to clarify that), she was just uneducated, that doesn't justice a man hitting and attacking a woman whatsoever.
Also one final thing about the design, this is going to sound so niche but it reminds me of those transphobic Womack images you'd see on reddit, that compared a "normal trans woman" and a transphobic stereotypical caricature... only this time it's just autism.
Mind you someone argued with me and said I'd lack "media literacy" cause I found this harmful... mind you most of the time the mc was just whining and b*tching and everything he did wrong was justified cause he's autistic. ALSO the whole point of this game was to spread awareness about autism and how 2 autistic people aren't the same... so how are you going to have that message yet only have one autistic character and his entire personality reflects on that… This game was just so horribly written it’s actually embarrassing, and for this game to “speak up” for people with autism, it CLEARLY fails to do that, and even underrepresents that, and the fact this is supposed to be a “psychological horror” does not help😭
