Overview[]
Ripper and Axel go from enemies in their first season…
In Total Drama Island (2023), Axel and Ripper don't get off to a good start. In Meet the Victims, Axel plays as a strategic advisor, however this strict first approach causes Ripper to lash out. This conflict escalates when Axel drops her bag on his foot after a comment on wanting co-ed cabins and Axel's expression of her intention to vote him off. In Pirates of the Cabbage'an, this conflict continues as Axel and Ripper split the captain's hat. They yell and fight with each other, this may be due to their contrasting morals, with Axel having a strict cadet-like nature and Ripper being a failed alpha-male desperate for leadership.
In Total Drama Island (2024), this rivalry seemingly continues. Axel, who now recognizes the importance of making friends, struggles at first to be kind to Ripper who is actually putting in an effort to be nicer to Axel. During The Pink Painter Strikes Again, Axel yells at Ripper when he is merely running in the same direction as her. However earlier he is nicer to Axel, asking her how she's been despite their short history. In the very next episode, it is revealed that Ripper’s supposed animosity and rivalry with Axel has warmed and melted into an attraction to her, and he tries in vain to impress her so that she will go out with him, though it seems to be rather one-sided on his part as she still seems to not be very fond of him in return.

However, after the two of them get stuck to each other’s butts during the sap challenge and have to try and learn to navigate with each other, Axel seems to warm up to Ripper as a person and can talk to him civilly, though she still turns him down after finding out that he has a crush on her. And after finding out during the “Would You Rather?” challenge that Axel was secretly a big fan of poetry, Ripper wrote and later recited a love poem for her during the campfire ceremony, which managed to win her over and caused her to pull him into a passionate kiss and officially start a relationship with him. However, their relationship quickly disgusts their fellow cast members, as they are constantly seen kissing. Because of this, this would later play into Axel's elimination in Fun Fight at the O'Cake Corral due to her being a bigger threat than Ripper and he would later also quit the game in the same episode to continue being with her. Their relationship still remains strong even after their eliminations as they return to support Wayne in Soar Losers.

Meet the Victims[]
Axel tells Ripper not to lash out too soon.
After Ripper gets frustrated at the Hockey Bros for making fun of him, he begins to approach the the pair, Axel stops him from walking and reminds him to save his attitude for the game. Ripper quickly lashes back at her telling her not to tell him what to do. Axel then glares at him harshly. Ripper who is now quite frightened of her sudden glare, with wide eyes says he's decided to save it for the game. Later, when Chris asks for questions, Ripper jokingly asks if the cabins are co-ed. Axel drops her bag onto Ripper's foot with a klank due to her annoyance of the question, she then proceeds to ask Chris if she can vote now, deciding she wants to vote for Ripper.
Pirates of the Cabbage'an[]
Axel and Ripper rip the hat by accident.
In the challenge, when given the option of becoming captain, Axel and Ripper both grab the pirate hat on one end and frustratedly pull at it while screaming at the other saying they should be captain. Eventually, they break the pirate cap and wear one side of the hat each. Zee comes in-between them and claims that with two captains they can never lose. Still glaring at him, she declares that there can only be one captain. Ripper determines they will put it to a vote, and asks the rest of the Ferocious Trout and the majority is easily Axel. Ripper is shocked so decides he will not take orders from Axel, and puts up a fight, Axel then proceeds to kick Ripper off the boat directly in the face as he falls in.
Axel tells Ripper that mutiny has consequences, and threatens a fight.
Later after Axel falls off the ship and makes it back to shore, Ripper 'congratulates' her for her efforts as team captain. Axel comebacks at him saying that mutiny has consequences, to which Ripper interrupts asking Axel if she knows what her problem is. Axel returns the question to Ripper asking if it's that her fist fits perfectly in his face. Chris interrupts the pair and says he's trying to watch a challenge, they both put up a fight, but are interrupted by a parrot who tells them to shut their cake-holes.
At the Campfire Ceremony, Axel and Ripper glare at each other when Chris talks about options to eliminate. When Chef insults Ripper for his lack of effort in the challenge, Axel smiles at him. Ripper confesses that it wasn't his fault, as Axel had kicked him overboard, and if he'd been there then he'd have won. Axel then gets insulted by Chef, and Ripper and Axel continue their glares. When in the bottom two, Ripper tells Axel that the pair should fight for the last marshmallow to which she completely agrees intimidating Ripper more. When Ripper gets the final marshmallow, he gets the last laugh telling Axel to pack up her survival trinkets because she didn't survive. He then flexes his marshmallow in her face to the point where she is fuming, she bites his hand and takes the marshmallow. Ripper complains telling Chris to do something about the situation. Chris told Ripper he'll make Axel give it back to him when she's "done with it", disgusting Millie.

The Pink Painter Strikes Again[]
After Axel says in the confessional that she intends on being nicer to better her winning chances, she is walking with her stuff until noticed by Ripper. He stops what he's doing to speak to her, he says hi and asks Axel how she is, to which she shoves him into a bush and leaves him stuck. Axel claims in the confessional she's a work in progress. Later while they are picking teams, when Priya picks Axel, Ripper claims the pick is the worst one yet. Subsequently, Axel stands on Ripper's head crushing him with her army boots, she smirkingly apologises and says she completely saw him there.
During the challenge, Axel says loudly in Ripper's direction that she doesn't like people following her. Ripper says he is not following her as they are both running in the same place. Axel then leaves her foot outward which Ripper trips on. He then falls and is eliminated from the challenge.
Taking It to the Rim Reaper[]
Axel shoves food into Ripper's face.
During breakfast, Ripper confesses to Bowie that he has started to develop feelings for Axel and asks him for advice on how to impress her. Bowie suggests just being straightforward with his feelings by talking to her, but Ripper’s attempts to do so result in Axel throwing her food in his face and walking away, much to his sadness.
Julia exposes Ripper’s crush on Axel to the latter.
Later, during the challenge, Ripper tries to talk smack about Team Rat Face, but Axel’s rebuttal causes him to blush and fumble over his words and try to come up with a new plan to impress her during the challenge. He later puts on his swimsuit and lathers himself in butter to slide down the slide super fast and impress Axel. He asks Julia to try and get Axel to notice him when he does so without making his crush on her super obvious, but Julia just loudly announces such to Axel instead, much to Axel’s confusion. Ripper then tries to rush down the slide anyway, only to have his bathing suit snag on the top of the slide and launch him back up through the slide and into the forest completely butt-naked, though Axel, at least, thought that this was funny and later admitted to as much in the confessional.
You Poor Saps[]
During the challenge, even though Ripper's team has got a shortcut, Ripper tells them he'll catch up, but he's lying. He says in the confessional that even tho his team has a shortcut, if he went with his team, he wouldn't have alone time with Axel. Axel smells him from behind her, as Ripper runs to her and tells her they took the same route. He was about to speak again, but something on the bushes moves. Axel tells him to grab a weapon. A bunny comes out and roars at him. Ripper screams, backing away from it and getting his own butt stuck to Axel's butt. Axel calls him "butter boy". In the confessional, Ripper says that she has a nickname for him, in which Axel responds it's a burn, but Ripper still believes it's a nickname. In another confessional, Axel says she's done survival training, and that she's ready for any dangerous event but nothing prepared her to get stuck to Ripper's butt. Ripper tells her that she's got to admit that they're pretty firm. Axel tries to get off of him then. Axel tries carrying him, but Ripper tells her that there's gotta be a better way to get their butts across the island. Axel then remembers they've been thinking with their heads when they should've used their butts, and asks Ripper how hard he can fart, in which in the confessional Ripper gives heart eyes to the camera with thumbs up until Axel demands for him to stop. Ripper and Axel then farted, causing a sap bubble to form between their behinds. It then pops, leaving both Ripper and Axel stuck on separate trees.
Choosin' for a Bruisin'[]
At the start of the episode, Axel is training, punching a mattress hung to a tree. Ripper walks in, but Axel gets scared and punches his nose. She then helps him. Ripper then straight up tells her his feelings, but she rejects him and walks away, leaving Ripper crying. During the challenge, Axel is revealed to being "super" into poetry, in which Ripper runs somewhere after he hears that. After Team Rat Face's elimination ceremony, Ripper starts talking through the speakers. He says he'd like to read a poem of love for a "lucky lady person", in which everyone turns to Axel, who is blushing. Ripper starts reading the poem, and walks up to Axel midst reading it. After he's finished, Axel gets up angrily, pulls him by the shirt and kisses him, shocking everyone.
Ice to Beat You[]
Caleb and Priya are running to the Dock of Shame, but then get horrified when they see Ripper and Axel making out while Axel holds him by her arms. They notice that they've been making out the whole night, and Ripper says that "time flies when you're lip-breastling for the championship belt", before kissing Axel again. Caleb and Priya back away from them, horrified.
Canoe Believe It?[]
Axel and Ripper make out with each other throughout the episode, doing so in most scenes they appear in. Once Chris announces contestants have to pair up for the challenge, they instantly team up. After Ripper makes a silly remark, Axel calls him stupid, but adds that she finds it hot. After contestants find out they have to compete against their partners, Ripper asks Chris to allow them to switch partners, as he believes he and Axel can't bring themselves to eliminate one another. However, Axel instantly throws him into the water with her dueling stick. In spite of that, Ripper reveals in the confessional that he's not mad at her for doing so while Axel claims that after couples fight, they make up.
Fun Fight at the O'Cake Corral[]
The two end up on the same team with MK, making out most of the time during the challenge. When MK asks Axel to do something to help their team, she sees the two kissing, and tells them to keep their hands for themselves until she comes back. The two confess that they're not animals, but they sometimes can be. When MK comes back, the two have opened the box she gave them to not open, and they say they didn't do anything. While MK is cooking, the two feed each other, which Ripper gets fed and spits it all on MK, resulting in her getting mad, telling them to focus on the challenge. Priya, from the other cooking team, sees Axel painting Ripper on his underwear, and Priya asks Axel if arms over head would be a more classic look for the painting, and Axel responds that it would show the "pipes", ordering Ripper to put his hands up. He does so, and Priya starts tickling him, and she runs away. MK then asks how the chocolate modeling is going, and gets horrified when she sees the two sitting together, making a chocolate art and kissing, disgusting everybody else.
Their team loses, and at the elimination ceremony, when Chef is gonna call them out, Axel is gnawing Ripper's ear, thus making Chef tell them to knock it off. Everyone gets a marshmallow except Axel and Ripper, and it goes to Ripper, who is sadder than Axel, not knowing what happened. At the dock of shame, he cries, saying that he's never felt like this before. Axel responds it was fun, and to maybe see him around. He asks what she means by maybe, but she gets taken away by the Drone of Despair. Ripper, scared he will never see her again, jumps onto her legs and the two get eliminated as they sink into the Wawanakwa lake.
Soar Losers[]
Axel and Ripper return with their arms around each other and celebrating on the yacht to come back and cheer on one of the finalists. When Ripper falls into the sand, Axel tries to give Ripper a little help by pulling his face out of the sand and they both seem to stare at Julia after that. As Ripper stands with his arm on Axel's shoulder in the confessional, it is revealed that they are both returning as supporters of Wayne and rooting for him inside. During the challenge, Axel tells Ripper that he thinks Wayne will lose because of his distractions. Both are later seen celebrating Wayne's victory in the stands and in the confessional, and would later be seen kissing at the bonfire ceremony. Axel supports Ripper about his dissatisfaction with there being no Marshmallows, but is shocked to see Chef smacking them in Ripper’s face.

- Axel and Ripper both have multiple brothers.
- They used the confessional together for more episodes than any other couple in the fourth cast.
- Axel and Ripper are the second couple to be in a double elimination, the first one being Bridgette and Geoff.
- Coincidentally, Axel and Ripper are similar to Bridgette and Geoff as a couple due to their eventual constant making-out.
- They are also the third couple overall to take an elimination exit together, following Bridgette and Geoff and Dakota and Sam.
- Both are placed in the bottom two in back-to-back seasons, with Ripper receiving the final marshmallow.
- In Total Drama Island: Take the Crown, Ripper's file lists Axel as his enemy.
