Its largest city, Toronto, is where Total Drama Action takes place. Most of the show's cast members and crew are arguably Canadian. Such as Katie and Sadie, hail from the city while others like Ezekiel are from the rural countryside, Bridgette living on the coast of British Columbia, Geoff has stated that he's from the "back east" which could mean the Maritimes. However, there are some competitors whom are arguably born or raised outside of Canada, such as DJ, an immigrant from Jamaica, Eva is from a village in Eastern Europe, Justin was born from Hawaii, Alejandro was born in Spain and was raised in Latin America, Brick was born and raised in the United States while Jasmine was born and raised in the Australian Outback.
Total Drama World Tour does not take place entirely in Canada, as the contestants travel across the world to various locations for challenges. Although, they do travel to several places in Canada during the events of Anything Yukon Do, I Can Do Better, Newf Kids on the Rock, Niagara Brawls, and Awwwwww, Drumheller. Teletoon is a Canadian company and its headquarters are located in Canada.
Each season takes place in a different area, or in Total Drama World Tour's case, multiple areas. The following are a list of locations in Canada where each season of Total Drama has taken place in.
Muskoka, Ontario is the area in Canada where the fictional Camp Wawanakwa and the Teletoon animated reality shows Total Drama Island, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, and Total Drama All-Stars take place.
Notable locations on the show
- Camp Wawanakwa, which is where Total Drama Island, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, and Total Drama All-Stars are filmed before it sank in The Final Wreck-ening.
- Boney Island, which contains the Cave of Treacherous Terror.
- Lake Wawanakwa
- Playa Des Losers
It's home to several major league professional sports teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball, the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League, the Toronto Raptors (of whom DJ is a fan of) of the National Basketball Association, Toronto FC of Major League Soccer, and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. The city is also home to several microbreweries and many corporations.Katie and Sadie mention it in Haute Camp-ture when they give a shout out to their family and friends, with Katie saying "What's up, Toronto?". It is mentioned again in Monster Cash when Leshawna says, "We're in Toronto! We're nowhere near the ocean!". However, she may just live in a city in general and had compared it because she hadn't been home for a while. The airport seen in Walk Like An Egyptian - Part 1 is most likely in Toronto, since the iconic CN Tower can be seen in the background.
The skyline of downtown Toronto, complete with the CN Tower, can be seen in several episodes of Total Drama Action as part of the background beyond the abandoned film lot.
The CN Tower is seen in the Total Drama World Tour opening sequence at the beginning, as the camera is wildly flying through an airport setting, then rises up over the skyline and right past the tower. Also, the airport in Walk Like An Egyptian - Part 1 is apparently located in Toronto. Later in the season, during Boyfriend Kisser, a large map on a computer monitor has a bright dot signalling Toronto's location.
The cast is brought back to Camp Wawanakwa, Muskoka, Ontario.
Total Drama: Pahkitew Island is filmed on a new island named "Pahkitew Island", which is discovered to be a mechanical and artificial island. Pahkitew Island is said to be located somewhere in western Canada.
Toronto is the starting point of the race during None Down, Eighteen to Go - Part 1. During this episode, the contestants visit the CN Tower, either taking the elevator to the top and walking across the skyline or using the stairs. After getting their next clue while ziplining, they then book their flight at Toronto's airport.
Canada is visited yet again in Little Bull on the Prairie and Lord of the Ring Toss in which the contestants travel to Alberta and the Arctic Circle respectively. In Alberta, the teams take turns riding a mechanical bull and consuming a pot of bean stew at a local ranch. After arriving at the Arctic Circle, the contestants must ring a narwhal and after doing so, assemble an igloo.
