During Cartoon Network's broadcast of Total Drama Island, there were numerous edits to support its assigned PG rating. The animation was almost completely untouched; mainly the edits would be to correct dialogue. However, this has caused some lip syncing errors and problems in acting, as it usually sounds like the voice actors went back to change the words. For instance, tones in a sentence would sound different or the lip-syncing would be off. On an original trailer for Total Drama Island on Cartoon Network, on the top left-hand screen, its rating is "TV-PG-DLS." They kept the D (which stands for "mild suggestive dialogue"), but edited out most of the content that could have gotten it the L ("infrequent coarse language") and the S ("some sexual situations").

However, Total Drama Action, Total Drama World Tour, and Total Drama: Revenge of the Island were hardly edited in comparison to the first season, while Total Drama All-Stars, and Total Drama: Pahkitew Island weren't even touched. This was most likely due to the network realizing that they were getting a larger age-ranged audience outside its original age 8-12 demographic.

Broadway, Baby! and How Deep is Your Love are the only episodes in Total Drama to feature a cut scene. The censorship in the United States is most likely because Canada has a slightly different meaning of TV-PG than the United States.

Response from Tom McGillis[]

Quote1 They like to comb through and take them all out. And they did. It was such a funny thing because that was the one thing that everybody in the U.S. identified (as) the big difference between Canada and the U.S.

There were all these discussion groups about, you know, "In the Canadian version they say 'suck' 42 times over the series, and it's way better. And Cartoon Network should be ashamed to think that kids can't hear the word "sucks."

It became a big issue for the fans of Cartoon Network, and they were telling the network you don't need to protect us from words like 'sucks' or 'idiot.' As a result, when they launched our second series, 6teen, recently, they barely edited it at all. But it remains to be seen how (Total Drama Action) will be handled this year.

Common edits[]

  • All uses of the word "suck" were replaced with "stink" or "stank" in Total Drama Island, except for Not Quite Famous, where Chris says it.
  • The word "crap" was replaced with several other words such as "crud" and "shoot." However, Bridgette still uses the word in Not Quite Famous and Trent uses the word during his audition in TDI Rundown. It is not edited out beginning in Total Drama Action.
  • The word "stupid" was usually changed to "foolish," "silly," "lame-o," or some other variation, except when Gwen says it in I Triple Dog Dare You!
  • The phrase "Shut up!" was often changed to "Shut it!" or "Zip it!"
  • The word "freak" was often changed to "weirdo," except when Sadie said it in Who Can You Trust?
  • The word "freakin'" is replaced in most episodes with words like "totally."
  • During the rare occurrence of a censor bleep, it was either replaced with other dialogue (like in That's Off the Chain! or Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon) or it was eliminated completely (like in Not So Happy Campers - Part 1).
  • The word "gitch" was often replaced by "drawers," as "gitch" is Canadian slang. However, "gitch" is left unedited in I See London... and African Lying Safari.
  • The censorship of the words "heck", "stupid", "shut up", and "hot" stand out the most, because Cartoon Network had allowed their shows that had a TV-Y7 rating to use those words for years prior to Total Drama's premiere on the network.

Disclaimer[]

In all of the episodes, Cartoon Network completely cuts out the disclaimer at each episode. The disclaimer says "This episode of Total Drama contains scenes of extreme stunts performed by animated teens. Do not try any of what you see here at home. Seriously, you could get really messed up." This line is narrated out loud by Chris.

Edits in the American version[]

The edits listed above put aside, there were also numerous edits and changes to the episodes which are listed below:

Total Drama Island[]

  • Not So Happy Campers - Part 1
    • When Duncan first arrives on the island, he tells Heather that he'll meet her by the campfire and calls her gorgeous. She retorts by saying, "Drop dead, you skeeze!" This is changed to "Drop dead, you goof!" in the Cartoon Network version.
    • Harold says, "So you mean this show is at a crappy summer camp and not on some big stage or something?" upon his arrival to the island. "Crappy" is changed to "yucky" in the Cartoon Network version.
    • In Gwen's first confessional she says, "Um, okay... so far this sucks." This is changed to "Um, okay... so far this stinks."
      • On Cartoon Network's interactive website (which is nearly identical to Teletoon's), the line is merely shortened to "Um, okay..."
    • After being pushed out of the way by Gwen in the cabins, Heather tells her to "shut it" instead of "shut up."
    • When Chris mentions the communal bathrooms, Lindsay says, "Communal bathrooms? But, I'm not Catholic." This is changed and Lindsay says, "Where's the spa? I'm confused." This was likely done to avoid religious references.
      • Chris replies by saying, "Not communion, communal," which is changed to, "Wow, that's a... shocker" in the US.
        • The lip sync is unchanged, so Chris's mouth still moves as if he is saying the original line.
        • The line is uncensored on Netflix.
      • Lindsay's new line effectively feels out of place in the ongoing conversation, as Gwen mentions they would shower together.
    • After Harold mentions his hypoglycemia, Chef yells "You'll get a whole lot of 'Shut the heck up!'". This is changed to "You'll get... Sit your butt down!"
    • When everyone is receiving their meal in the main lodge, Chef Hatchet calls Owen "fat boy." In the US version, he's called "big guy" instead.
    • After commenting on how their first challenge couldn't be hard, DJ and the others see what the challenge actually is and he exclaims, "Oh (bleep)"; this line is cut out entirely and replaced with a loon calling. In the American DVD, there is no sound at all.
  • Not So Happy Campers - Part 2
    • Owen says, "I'm going to die now; I'm going to frickin' die now!" the term "frickin'" is changed to "totally."
    • Owen yells, "OH CRAP!" and then screams as he falls down the cliff into the water. The Cartoon Network airing replaced "CRAP" with more screaming.
    • Eva tells Courtney, "Shut up and pick up your crate!", which is changed to "Shut it and pick up your crate!"
    • When Ezekiel tells Courtney that her eye is getting worse, she tells him to "Shut up," so the other team doesn't know. The line is changed to "Shut it" again.
    • Chris tells the Killer Bass that it "sucks to be them." "Sucks" is changed to "stinks."
    • Courtney tells Duncan to "Shut up!" when he remarks that she's wearing a chicken hat. Again, "Shut up" is changed to "Shut it."
    • Near the end of the episode, Gwen (in the confessional stall again) says the camp "pretty much still sucks"; "sucks" is changed to "stinks."
  • The Big Sleep
    • For Cartoon Network syndicated airings of the episodes, Chris's line to Justin, "That is so frickin' cool!", is changed to, "That is so crazy incredible."
      • His line "Shut up!" before this is changed to "Get out!"
    • When Chris is reading the book of Canada, he says that the beaver has a "dam" fine hat. However, when this episode aired in the US, he says it is a "real" fine hat, removing the pun on the word "damn."
      • This also leaves confusion as to why Chris put air quotes around the word "real," and why everyone groaned when he said it.
    • When Eva is about to leave, she says, "Who needs this stupid TV show anyway?"; when edited, she says "lame-o" instead of "stupid."
  • Dodgebrawl
    • Chris tells Duncan, "You look like crap, dude," which is changed to Chris saying "You look like death, dude."
      • Duncan replies, "Stuff it," and is changed to Duncan telling him, "Stick it."
    • In the confessional stall, Courtney says, "We are so sucking right now!"; the US has her saying "stinking" instead of "sucking."
    • Courtney tells Harold "Oh, I believe... I believe you suck!" in which case "suck" is changed to "stink."
    • In the scene where Heather asks the Killer Bass, "How does it feel to suck so much?" the word "suck" was cut without adding a substitute word, oddly making it sound like she said, "How does it feel to so much?"
      • This line is fully retained in its original form when viewing this episode via On Demand, Dock of Shame - Heather from Cartoon Network, Netflix, or the DVD. However, the rest of the dialog edits made to this episode stay intact.
    • Courtney says her team needs someone who will "crush those stupid Gophers into the dirt," which is edited so that Courtney calls the opposing team "lame-o" over "stupid."
  • Not Quite Famous
    • According to captions, three lines were intended to be edited in the Cartoon Network airing, but were left alone for unknown reasons:
      • Gwen says to Cody, "What are you? Some kind of freak?" The captions say that Gwen asks Cody if he's "Some kind of animal?"
        • On the Cartoon Network December 2018 re-airing captions, this was undone completely and the captions changed “animal” back to “freak”.
      • Bridgette yells "Oh crap!" but the captions say "Oh no!"
        • This was left unedited in the Cartoon Network version, but later applied to be Bridgette’s line in the Netflix version.
      • Chris talking about the Killer Bass "sucking" so far in the talent contest. The captions say that Chris says "The Killer Bass are totally losing so far."
        • Again, this was left unedited in the Cartoon Network version, but later applied to be Chris’ line in the Netflix version.
    • Bridgette says, "We already know Tyler sucks, what can Duncan do again?" "Sucks" changes to "stinks."
    • For unknown reasons, Trent's song scores less points on Cartoon Network.
  • The Sucky Outdoors
    • When Chris introduces the title theme, he says, "Who will be the next one to walk off this crappy dock?"; "crappy" is changed to "lame."
    • When Owen makes a bear sound, Heather says, "Will you please shut up?", as she was trying to read; this is edited to "shut it."
  • Phobia Factor
    • During the recap, Chris states the Gophers’ night spent in the tree “really sucked for them.” “Sucked” is changed to “Stunk.”
    • Courtney says "Shut up!" after Duncan taunts her about her phobia, which is changed to "Shut it!"
    • When Duncan confronts Courtney about being fearful in the previous episode, she says, "Duncan, did you ever consider that maybe I was just humoring you and your stupid story?" This was unedited on Cartoon Network, but on Netflix she says "lame-o" instead of "stupid."
    • Trent exclaims, "Oh crap, Gwen!," when he realizes he forgot to dig her out from the sand; this is changed to "Oh no, Gwen!"
  • Up the Creek
    • Geoff asks DJ if he "screwed up" regarding the clay bowl he made to win over Bridgette and DJ affirms that he did; this is changed to "messed up."
  • Paintball Deer Hunter
    • In the original version, Heather considers Chef's eggs to be "crappy"; this was edited to "yucky."
    • Owen shouts, "Aw crap!" when he suddenly sees a snake while hiding in the bushes; he only says, "Ahh, snake!" when the line is edited.
    • Beth says, "Go ahead, shoot me. You can't make today any suckier!"; "suckier" is changed to "stinkier."
    • Heather originally considers the challenges "lame and stupid," as opposed to the edited "lame and foolish."
  • If You Can't Take The Heat...
    • During the recap of the previous episode, Chris says Cody got the crap beat outta him by a bear. In the US version, he says "the snot" beaten outta him.
    • Duncan tells Harold he's leaving his "gitch lying around"; this is changed to "drawers lying around."
    • Heather warns Beth to try and not "screw up" in the challenge, inferring to the previous episode's incident; this is edited to "mess up."
    • A frustrated Heather mutters, "It's like I'm on a team of morons!"; "Morons" is changed to "Losers."
    • Chris comments that the ribs the Screaming Gophers made "sucked"; he then says they "stank" instead.
    • In the confessional, Heather says, "And Owen completely screwed up everything for us!"; "screwed up" is changed to "messed up."
    • Before Beth walks the Dock of Shame, Heather says it was stupid of her to take the tiki idol from Boney Island; she instead says it was silly of her to do so.
    • Before Geoff returns Harold's clothes to him, he says, "What the heck? I believe him!"; "heck" is changed to "hey."
      • This may have been an error, considering "heck" is not usually censored by Cartoon Network. In fact, this episode uses "heck" unedited at many times during the US version.
  • Who Can You Trust?
    • Two of Gwen's lines during the rock climbing challenge were edited when this episode aired on Cartoon Network.
      • After she sees that her underwear is exposed while she's climbing, she says, "Skip it." instead of "Screw it."
      • Also, when she's at the top of the mountain and she's trying to cover her underwear, she says "Man..." instead of "Crap!"
    • Courtney calls Sadie a "moron" when she tries to tell her that the William Tell challenge is over. Instead, she calls her "Einstein."
    • Heather said, "Freakin' stinging jellyfish!" while walking to the infirmary, but is changed to "Nasty stinging jellyfish!" in the US.
  • Basic Straining
    • When Harold is writing and Chef takes it away he says "Crap!", but in the US he says "Gosh!"
    • Courtney tells Duncan to stop acting like a "screw-up," but when this episode aired in the US, it is changed to a "mess-up."
    • When Courtney and Duncan are in the fish cabin, Duncan says, "Feel like ditching this crap for PB and J?" In the US, "crap" was changed to "stuff."
    • As Courtney leaves Duncan says "Aw man this sucks!", but in the US he says "Aw man this stinks!"
  • X-Treme Torture
    • Leshawna, priding herself on having a secret admirer, rhetorically asks Gwen and Bridgette "Do you know anyone else here with a booty as luscious as an apple?." The US changes this to "Do you know anyone else here with a kick-butt attitude... like mine?"
    • After Harold saw Heather's breasts, he says "boobies"; saying the same in the confession stall. In the US airing, he says "booyah" in a similar way to when he was beatboxing in both instances.
    • After Harold leaves, Geoff asks Leshawna if Harold actually did see her "boobies." Leshawna then angrily asks Harold from afar whose "boobies" he saw. In these instances, the word "chest" replaces "boobies" in the US.
      • Despite the above edits, they did retain the mentioning of "boobies" when Harold announced it and Bridgette inquired him about it. Heather's referral to her own "boobs" is also unedited in the US version.
      • In the UK all edits in this episode were left unedited.
      • Netflix originally had the unedited episode mentioning "boobies", but sometime, later on, the edited version of the episode was adopted.
  • Brunch of Disgustingness
    • Owen says he will eat anything, even his own "gitch" if he has to. This is changed to "drawers" in the US version.
    • "Brunch of Disgustingness" is slightly censored due to the scene when the campers are eating "beef testicles." In the US, Chef, Owen, and Trent say "beef meatballs" instead, but the male campers still react the same way they did in Canada.
      • However, the general message is still sent across in the US airing, as they retain the shot of the castrated bull, Geoff confirming that the "beef meatballs" are from castrated bulls and when Gwen says "cojones." The phrase "bull testicles" is also included in various dubbings of the episode.
      • This is also left undone on the Website.
  • No Pain, No Game
  • The word “testicles” is once again edited to “meatballs” in the US when Chris mentions the dish during the recap.
    • Eva tells Leshawna "You got that right, Sister Thunder-Thighs." when the latter stands up for Bridgette. In the US version, this is changed to "Oh yeah, you’ve got that right, girlfriend!"
      • This edit makes Leshawna's line "No one disses Shawnee's thighs!" nonsensical, considering Eva never mentions Leshawna's thighs in the edited version.
    • Gwen calls Eva a "freak" as she votes her off the island. This is changed to "weirdo" in Cartoon Network's airing.
  • Search and Do Not Destroy
    • Every mention of the word "sucks" (when Heather and Trent are talking about Gwen’s thoughts on his music) is changed to "stinks".
    • When Owen tries to get his key from the bear, he says "Oh, crap!" several times; in the US airing, this is changed to "Oh no!"
      • This change is also applied when he says "Crap infinity!," which is changed to "No infinity!"
  • That's Off the Chain!
    • Geoff, realizing he missed breakfast, says "Aw, crap!" This is changed to "Aw, man!" in the Cartoon Network version.
    • After being introduced to the Arts & Crafts Center, Duncan says "More like the Arts & Crap Center."; crap is changed to junk in the US airing, thus ruining the joke.
    • Heather tells Duncan all he ever does is scare the "crap" out of everyone; this is edited to "snot."
    • Although Lindsay cursing out Heather was censored by a lengthy beep in Canada during the three instances, the dialog was added in Cartoon Network's second airing of the episode, replacing the censor beep with "No good, selfish, heartless, pushy, bossy, mean, bully of a girl!"
      • Regardless of this, the blurred image of Lindsay giving Heather the middle finger is retained.
      • Because this was edited in all of the three instances, it makes her sound like she is repeating herself.
      • The three long bleeps were kept when it was aired on Jetix in the United Kingdom. It was the only scene that was left uncensored throughout the whole episode, while all the others were still censored, just like the American Cartoon Network version. However, censor bleeps are normally kept in the UK.
  • Hook, Line, and Screamer
    • When Owen arrives in the production tent, with Chef as the psycho killer right behind him, he says to Chris, "We're freakin' dead!" In America, "freakin'" is changed to "totally."
    • When Duncan sets Gwen's chart on fire, Gwen shouts "Holy crap!" In the US version, she says "Oh man!"
  • Wawanakwa Gone Wild!
    • When Gwen says "I hate this freakin' show!," freakin' was changed to "lame-o" on Cartoon Network.
    • Duncan says to Heather "I bet most of the other morons have gotten back to camp." Morons is changed to losers.
  • Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon
    • During the recap of the last episode, Chris remarks some of the fellow campers were "sucking" at capturing their assigned animal. This is changed to "stinking."
    • After waking up the competitors, Chris recalls the campers who have already been eliminated to this point in order, saying it "sucks" to be them. This is changed to "stinks."
    • At the end of his player recap, he mentions the “crappy” camp food. This is changed to “yucky” camp food in the US version.
    • Heather tells Owen to "zip it" instead of "shut up" in the US version when he implies they should use the “wimp key”.
    • Owen insults Heather in the confessional stall late in the episode, calling her the "The meanest, the nastiest, the big -(censored) in all of Kalamazoo." Cartoon Network replaces the censor beep with "biggest cold-hearted meanie."
      • Although, the beep can be quietly heard for a second when the censoring starts in the Canadian version.
    • In the Netflix version, Duncan simply carves a heart into the wooden carving of Courtney's head rather than a heart with their initials, the D+C having disappeared from the carving.
  • Haute Camp-ture (also known as After the Dock of Shame)
    • Trent says "Can you believe this resort is right around the corner from that crappy campground?" In the US version, "crappy" is changed to "lame-o."
    • When Izzy realizes she was holding her bikini bottom, she says "Oh crap, it is!" Similarly like Owen in Search and Do Not Destroy, this is changed to "Oh no, it is!" in the US.
    • When describing her experience at camp, Eva simply says it sucked. In the US version, she says it stank.
    • Lindsay says "Maybe if I get an eating disorder or my boobs done, I'll get on the cover!" while celebrating being featured in a magazine. In the US, this is changed to "Maybe if I get an acting coach and my nails and hair done, I'll get on the cover!".
      • In that scene, Lindsay is pointing at her mouth and then looking at her breasts while holding up one hand. In the edited version, the first action can be reinterpreted as representing dialogue in acting, and the second one can be reinterpreted as looking at the fingernails rather than the breasts.
      • Although in some other countries it is "Maybe if I develop an eating disorder, I'll get on the cover!"
    • When Courtney finally finds Harold and starts to attack him, Trent says "Poor sucker." Whereas in the US version, he says "Little guy," which means two separate things.
    • Lindsay has a flashback to the first episode when she was unaware of the communal bathrooms. When Chris mentions the communal bathrooms, Lindsay says, "Communal bathrooms? But, I'm not Catholic." And Chris replies by saying, "Not communion, communal." This is once again changed and Lindsay says, "Where's the spa? I'm confused," with Chris replying, "Wow, that's a... shocker" in the US.
      • Strangely enough, despite the Netflix version leaving out this edit during the actual scene in episode one, it was adopted once again during this flashback scene.
  • Camp Castaways
    • Heather teases Gwen, saying "Frowning like a big sap won't bring Leshawna back." This is edited to "Frowning like a big baby won't bring Leshawna back."
    • Heather snaps at Duncan, saying "In your dreams, perv!" "Perv" is changed to "nerd" in the US.
    • Duncan says "Man, this sucks." This is changed to "Man this stinks" in America.
    • Heather says "Any moron can see..." when they first come on to the "deserted island." This is edited to "Any goofball can see..." in the US.
    • Duncan says he is stuck on the island with two hot girls, though he finds them "completely annoying." This is edited to Duncan being stuck with two cool girls.
    • After spotting a dinosaur skull, Owen runs back into the confessional and states that "This day is really sucking." "Sucking" is changed to stinking in the US.
      • This was left unedited on Cartoon Network, but applied on the Total Drama Island DVD & Netflix.
    • The movie the props were originally made for actually had a name in the original version: Big Assic Park, as a parody of Jurassic Park. It is simply referred to as "that dinosaur movie" in the US version.
      • This was left unedited on Cartoon Network, but applied on the Total Drama Island DVD & Netflix.
    • Gwen says they'll be "stuck on this freakin' Island," in the US version, the word "freakin" is changed to "stupid."
      • The above edit is rather questionable, as "stupid" is usually censored in the US.
    • Owen bemoans that he will never be able to fulfill his "Owen gets jiggy" fantasies. This is edited to "Owen gets famous" fantasies.
      • This was left unedited on Cartoon Network, but applied on the Total Drama Island DVD & Netflix.
    • During the fake elimination ceremony, Chris claims that the “every camper for themselves” rule sucks. “Sucks” is changed to “stinks” in the US version.
      • This was left unedited on Cartoon Network, but applied on the Total Drama Island DVD & Netflix.
  • Are We There Yeti?
    • At the end of Chef Hatchet's recap, he says "Sit back, shut up."; in the US version, he says "Sit back, zip it."
    • Chef told everyone to "Shut up" when they wondered where they were. It's changed to "Zip it" in the US version.
    • Gwen tells Heather "Let's see what happens when you shut up already!" "Shut up" is edited to "close it already" in the US version.
    • After finding out the boys went the wrong way, Heather calls them “suckers.” In the US version, she calls them “losers.”
    • When Owen has a flashback of his cliff dive from the first challenge when he says "I'm going to die now; I'm going to freakin' die now!" and of course, the term "freakin'" is changed to "totally."
      • Also, when he dives, he screams "Oh, crap!" However, this is replaced just "AHHHHHHHHH," as was the case with the original airing.
    • When the campers arrive back, Chef Hatchet mumbles "Aw crap." This is edited to "Aw crud." in the US version.
    • At the end of the episode, Owen is in the confessional stall musing about how it's now down to him and "two hot chicks." This is edited to "two cool girls" in the US version.
  • I Triple Dog Dare You!
    • In the recap, "hot chicks" is changed to "cool girls."
      • This edit is ignored in the Netflix version.
    • After Chris reveals the dare challenge to the final 3 campers, Heather, who was annoyed, said back to him, "Why don't we just do Seven Minutes of Heaven in a skanky basement closet?" in Canada. In America, "skanky" is changed to "tacky."
    • After Gwen earns her first freebie, she says "Just give me the fr-frickin' freebie!"; in the US, it is changed to a "stupid" freebie. Since she said it slowly, it sounds like she says "fr-stupid."
      • This edit to the dialogue is somewhat odd, as "stupid" is usually a word that is also edited out in the United States version.
    • A sympathizing Owen says "Twice in a row's gotta suck" to Heather before she performs her second dare. "Suck" is replaced with "hurt" in the US version.
    • Chris says "So frickin' sick!" in the confessional stall; in the Cartoon Network airing, frickin' is changed to "totally."
    • After throwing up in the confessional stall, Chris asks himself "Is there nothing these freaks won't do?!" "Freaks" is changed to "weirdos."
  • TDI Rundown (not aired in Canada)
    • In Courtney's audition, she makes an error and then mutters the f-word, which is bleeped out. On Cartoon Network, the word is taken out completely, yet her lips still move as though she is saying the f-word.
      • This edit is undone on the website.
  • The Very Last Episode, Really!
    • All edits were removed during the first airing.
      • In the confessional, Gwen says being at Camp Wawanakwa for eight weeks and most of the people around her "sucked". In the US version, she says "stank" both times instead.
      • When Gwen says "Nice rug." when she sees Heather's wig, to which Heather replies "Oh, bite me." In the US version, she says "Oh, shut it."
        • There by, it makes less sense why Izzy (who is behind her), is leaning over her and has a hungry expression.
      • Heather calls Gwen a "sucker" in the Canadian version after revealing that she added laxatives in the cupcake she faked as being from Trent; in the US, she calls Gwen a "doofus."
      • While sliding down the pole, Owen shouts "Oh, crap! That's bad!" "Crap" is changed to "crud" in the US version.
      • Gwen says, "I'm going to die now. I'm gonna freakin' die" (mirroring what Owen said in the first episode); and as such, this was changed to "I'm going to totally die" again.
      • Owen says "Alexander the freakin' great!" originally; in the US version, "freakin'" is replaced with "insanely."
      • When Lindsay accidentally turns on the fan in Heather's direction, blowing off her wig, she angrily shouts "Can't you freaks do anything right?!" In the US version, "freaks" is changed to "fools."
      • At the end of the episode when Owen receives the final marshmallow, he says, "I'll treasure it for the rest of my life. Oh, screw it! I can have all the marshmallows I want now!" In the US version, the phrase, "Oh, screw it," is replaced by "whatever."
  • Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island
    • While riding on the speeding diving board, Owen yells "OHH CRAAAPPP." In the Cartoon Network airing, this is removed.

Hide and Be Sneaky is the only episode of Total Drama Island to remain completely unedited in America.

Total Drama Action[]

By the time Total Drama Action aired on Cartoon Network, there weren't as many edits. There were sixteen edits in the 27 episodes of Total Drama Action, as opposed to ninety-four in Total Drama Island. "Suck," "crap," "stupid," "shut up," "screw," "freak," "freaking," and censor bleeps are not edited as much anymore. However, these words are rarely used on Total Drama Action.

  • Alien Resurr-eggtion
    • In the confessional, when Harold says that Leshawna isn't over him, the phrase "like she's un-pantsing me with her eyes" is changed to "like she's romancing me with her eyes."
    • If viewed on Cartoon Network Demand, the line is left in there.
    • The edit is not present on the Netflix version.
  • Beach Blanket Bogus
    • Before Beth hugs Justin's hair, the line "Holy crap, I love his hair!" is changed to "Holy moly, I love his hair!".
  • 3:10 to Crazytown
    • When Harold says, "I have cow boobies on my head!," "boobies" is changed to "udders."
      • If downloaded on iTunes, the original line is still kept intact.
      • On the Cartoon Network site, the word "boobies" is still there.
  • The Aftermath: I
    • Geoff claims that Heather was “the hottest chick on the show” when talking about her kissing Trent. And Bridgette angrily repeats his words after pushing him to the ground for saying this. The word “chick” is changed to “girl” both times in the US version.
    • The noises Geoff and Bridgette made after the lights were turned out were cut out entirely in the Cartoon Network Version.
  • The Aftermath: II
    • Video guest Gordon ends up getting frustrated about not being able to figure out the recipe to DJ’s sandwiches, causing him to angrily swear with bleeps censoring him. In the Cartoon Network version, his dialogue is combined together with no bleeps and he wails before being cut off.

      • However, despite winning in the Australian Netflix version, Blaineley still says the unedited version in the version.
    • In Canada, Izzy kept swearing at her movie crew with her mouth pixelated, however in the American airing, her mouth wasn't pixelated and the swears that were bleeped out were mostly changed to "stinkin'," and other kid-friendly dialogue.
      • However, the edit is not properly synched, as her lips still look like she is still cursing.
      • The episode is, in fact, available through iTunes, which retains the pixelated mouth.
    • When Leshawna hands over her bra, her original dialogue was, "What, you've never seen Triple D's before?", but in the Cartoon Network version, she says, "You've never seen a pink bra before?"

Total Drama World Tour[]

      • When first aired in the US, as is when one purchases it on iTunes, the bleeps are left in.
      • During August 15, 2010, in a Total Drama Catchup Marathon, both edits are deleted outright. Also, every airing that started on November 29, 2010 have had both edits reverted. However, the April 7, 2011 airing played the original episode with all former edits restored.

Tyler points out Lady Liberty’s breasts, to which Cody becomes overexcited and falls in between Lady Liberty's breasts. Tyler then compliments him saying, “Woo! Ten-point landing!” instead of helping him out. Sierra saves him by biting onto his ankle and pulling him out. Later in the confessional, he states that he thought he was going to die, to which Chef said, 'what a way to go,' with Cody agreeing.
      • On Netflix, the scene is left uncut.

Total Drama: Revenge of the Island[]

Total Drama: Revenge of the Island contains very minor edits, such as copyright references and a disturbing sequence involving Scott's cries. Unlike the previous seasons, several elements were reduced or omitted entirely, like the use of slang language, such as "crap" (which no longer being used starting Season 5), suggestive situations decreased as passionate romance, pixelated nudity, infamous "bleep" sound suggestive dialogues, and pixelated middle fingers.

Edits in R.S.E.E version[]

Unlike the U.S. version with more common and politically correct edits, some scenes were cut in the Russian and Eastern European version, with majority of them being made since Total Drama All Stars. As of the fifth season, every scene containing vomiting shown on-screen was removed, with the only exception being Gwen doing so in a recap of The Final Wreck-ening. The poor quality of the censorship caused some important events to be removed, such as Screaming Gophers finding Beth's Tiki idol, or Ezekiel being the reason of Cameron's elimination. Additionally, one scene has been altered and none of the recaps from Total Drama Action, except for the first and the last episode, were shown. Also, only exclusive clips from Total Drama World Tour and Total Drama: Revenge of the Island (episodes 7-12) were shown once, in a marathon.
