It's fire safety day in the classroom, and the class trouble maker wants to be the class firefighter. When the teacher's pet receives the promotion, she lets the power get to her head. The naughty kid manages to take the role, but his actions cause the other kids to play the flame game.

Plot[]

The episode begins with the kids playing in the playground. Chef then calls them in for a fire safety presentation, the kids are all disappointed except Courtney as she rushes in excited. Duncan tries hiding in the slide but is found by Chef. In the confessional, Duncan is confused as to why fire safety needs a whole presentation, saying when the fire alarm goes off, it should be smashed until it is stopped.

In the playroom, Courtney is excited for fire safety, saying she even read the French version, adding that there are different rules for French people or her French isn't what it used to be. Chef shows the kids he wore his fire tie for the special occasion, he then welcomes Fire Chief Blaze as she slides down a pole from the roof into the daycare.

Blaze greets the class, but as she sees the fire design on Chef's tie, she tackles him, thinking it is a real fire, but realizes it is a false alarm. She introduces herself to the kids, saying wherever she goes, safety follows, then tells Chef he is okay, as she is standing on him, Chef replies "Thanks Fire Chief Blaze" in a cracked voice. She then walks over to the kids and tells them she gets to use the fire pole rather than stairs, and points to her shinny, red firetruck outside. The kids rush to the window to look at it in awe, but Chef tells them that's enough truck, much to their dismay. Duncan's face is still pressed on the window so Chef gets a scraper to get him off.

Blaze tells the kids if they listen and learn fire safety, they will become just like her one day, which makes them very happy. Duncan starts daydreaming that the city is getting attacked by a monster fire, but he appears in a giant fire hydrant shaped robot, saying, "Things are heating up in here!" He then uses the robot to put out the fire. After Duncan stops daydreaming, the chief announces the fire safety lesson and test are done, causing Duncan to wonder how long he was out. Blazes asks the kids what they should do if they see fire, Bridgette says to save the stuffed animals, Harold says to use kung fu, and Owen says to roast marshmallows on it. Courtney says to stay low and go, which is the correct answer, this gets her a bonus point which makes Duncan angry. Blazes tells the kids whoever got the most correct answers becomes the class firefighter. Duncan says he is the obvious choice because of his daydream sequence in the confessional. The chief announces the winner as Courtney, and tells the kids to respect her because of the hat. The kids cheer for Courtney, but Duncan growls, the fire chief wishes Courtney good luck and leaves.

Owen is coloring with Bridgette and asks if she has ever noticed how many red crayons there are. He begins to list them but as he says fire red, he gets tackled by Courtney, she reassures him he is fine, and he tells her thank you but he was not in danger, to which Courtney replies, "Respect the hat." Harold asks if anyone lost a fire red crayon, and is also tackled by Courtney. In the confessional, Courtney says it isn't like her to get physical but, as she is the class firefighter, wherever she goes safety follows. Beth welcomes her dolls into their new home, but Courtney notices there is no fire exit, so she uses her axe to break the dollhouse. She then deems the house unstable and condemns it, Beth asks where her dolls will live, to which Courtney replies, "Respect the hat." Bridgette tells Cody and Izzy a story, and when she says the word fire, Courtney throw a bucket of water on her face and says, "Respect the hat." Chef is about to drink his hot coffee but Courtney uses a water gun to spray him with water and says, "Respect the hat."

Chef is getting ready to put the kids to sleep, but Courtney starts screaming the building is on fire, which causes everyone to start panicking, including Chef. Fortunately, Courtney mentions that it was a drill, and if it were real they would all be "burnt toast." In the confessional, Duncan says he wants the hat just as much as he does not want Courtney to have it, he mentions that he thought turning everyone against her would be hard, but it obviously is not.

Duncan tells the kids he doesn't want Courtney as class firefighter anymore, and they agree with him. But Harold says she has the hat and they have to respect it. Duncan suggests they take away the hat, which makes Owen happy. Harold goes outside and tells Courtney, as she is making the treehouse up to fire code, that he sees smoke at the other end of the yard, she doesn't see anything, but Harold tells her to look harder, as she looks, Duncan switches her hat with a fruit heart, she then rushes to go check.

Inside the daycare, Duncan makes himself the new class firefighter. Beth mentions that Fire Chief Blaze made Courtney the firefighter, and he can't be the firefighter just because he is wearing a hat, which Duncan responds to by drenching her in water, and saying, "Respect the hat." He then tells them things are going to change, Bridgette asks if she can use red crayons, Owen asks is he can eat cinnamon hearts until he pukes and Beth asks if she can play with the dollhouse, Duncan says it should be condemned but still lets her. In the confessional, he says being a cool firefighter isn't about safety, being in charge is letting people do dumb stuff and spraying them with a hose, he brings out a water gun and sprays Cody.

Harold asks is he can shove a bunch of plugs into a faulty power bar, Duncan says yes. Izzy then asks if she can turn her toys into cake by baking them in the tiny tots oven, to which Duncan agrees, she does this and smoke comes out the oven, she likes the smell and says they are cooking. Harold's robot is being controlled by the plugs and he cheers it on. Courtney comes back in, saying she saw no fire, but hosed the whole yard down. She sees Harold with his robot and tackles him, he angrily asks why she did that, and she tells him his robot is a fire hazard. She also tells him to "respect the hat", but he tells her she has the wrong hat, she realizes, and asks where her hat is. Duncan asks her what the problem is, she then sees his hat and gets mad at him for stealing her hat, he responds saying he earned the hat by stealing it, she tells him he knows nothing about fire safety, and later gets sprayed with water. Duncan tells her she needs to respect the hat.

Meanwhile, smoke begins to come out of Izzy's oven, causing the fire alarm to go off. Duncan covers his ears asking what the noise is, and Courtney tells him it's the real fire alarm and something's one fire. The kids begin to panic asking Duncan what to do, Courtney mockingly asks him as well, he tells her she should ask Chef, because he is the adult, but he is panicking as well. The kids surround Duncan, he begins daydreaming but remembers he only had the fire hydrant robot in his dream and asks the monster fire, but he is also confused. When his daydream stops, he tells the kids they should hold their breaths for the rest of their lives. They all try, but fail after a few seconds. Duncan then collapses confessing he does not know what to do. Courtney tells them to stop panicking because it's not a fire, it is just Izzy's cake smoking, Chef throws it out, but Izzy is disappointed because she likes her cake extra crispy. Courtney tells them to be safe to leave in an orderly fashion by staying in a single file line. The kids agree with her, she then yells at them to move. Duncan realizes a firefighter should know what to do during a fire, giving Courtney her hat back. Beth cheers for not dying today. Courtney tells Duncan everybody should practice fire safety, he thinks if she has a taste of danger, she'll like it. She then yells for a reverse fire drill telling everyone to go back inside, Duncan asks if she'll ever chill out, she says no, closing the episode.
