The episode begins with a bear sneaking into the camp and stealing some of the marshmallows while the campers are sleeping. Then a plane flies overhead and wakes them up. The plane turns out to be piloted by Chris, who lands in the camp to announce the "X-Treme" challenges for the day: X-Treme Sofa Bed Skydiving, X-Treme Rodeo Moose Riding, and X-Treme Seadoo Water Skiing. The winning team not only wins invincibility, but also gets to use a mobile shower. Owen is unimpressed, but Heather, desperate for a decent shower, orders him to perform. In fear, he chokes on the marshmallow he was eating, so Harold slaps Owen on the back to revive him. Owen spits out the marshmallow, which hits Heather on the head, knocking her to the ground.
While "helping" Chef Hatchet wash up the breakfast dishes by swallowing all the leftovers, Owen accidentally eats a note left on one of the plates and vomits it up at Chef, who reads it. Chef drops the letter, a haiku addressed to "the girl with the smoldering eyes," on the table, where Gwen and Bridgette pick it up and read it. They argue about which of their respectivelove interests could have written it, trading insults about each other's respective love interest. Finally, they agree to bet two nights' dessert on who the poem was written for.
In the first challenge, Trent and DJ are taken to 5,000 feet in Chris' plane and ordered to parachute to the beach, where they must land on a sofa bed. The rest of their teammates will be on the ground trying to position the sofa beds underneath them. Before they take off, Gwen makes the first discreet attempt to find out if Trent wrote the letter, but all she gets from him is a blank stare, while Bridgette shakes her head at Gwen with a grin on her face.
Okay, so it wasn't my most subtle-sleuthing moment.
”
Chris gives Trent and DJ a stack of papers to sign on the plane, explaining that these are their organ donation forms for a "cannibalism challenge" he's pitching to the producers. Then he says they've reached the drop point and it's time to jump. Back on the ground, the Gophers have a hard time moving the sofa bed. When they realize that Owen is asleep on the bed, unable to wake him up or move the sofa, Heather paints a bright red target on his butt and leaves him there to give Trent a "soft" landing. Trent has second thoughts about jumping, but DJ gives him a comforting pat on the back, causing him to fall out of the plane. In his panic, Trent forgets to open his parachute and lands face down on the beach, leaving a deep impression in the sand.
Back in the air, DJ tries to get himself ready to jump, but he's still scared, trying to remember to pull the blue and red cords in order. He panics as he falls and pulls the red cord first, then the blue. Meanwhile, the Killer Bass try to maneuver their sofa bed into place, and Bridgette asks Geoff about romance, but gets all kinds of brutal answers. They notice DJ floating to the ground and race to get the sofa bed underneath him. He lands safely, winning the first challenge for the Killer Bass, but the bed falls into a couch, trapping DJ inside. Meanwhile, Trent is in a body cast and being pushed around by "Nurse Hatchet," who is Chef disguised as a nurse. Gwen asks Trent if he has anything he wants to say to her before he's re-boned, wanting him to say something poetic in his final moments. However, Trent simply asks if his hair is messed up, leaving Gwen speechless and Bridgette satisfied that Trent did not write the love letter.
The campers move on to the second challenge, where Geoff is up for the Bass and has to ride The Great Canadian Bucking Moose like a bronco bull. On the way, Bridgette makes another attempt to find out if Geoff is the sender of the love note, but Geoff shows her the tattoo on his butt. The moose is irritated that Geoff is standing on him without his pants on, and when Chef opens the cage, he immediately kicks Geoff off and throws him into a nearby pile of smelly socks. Chris orders a replay of the incident and insists on how horrible his makeup is, completely unaware that Geoff is flying by him with his pants off.
Now it is Leshawna's turn for the Gophers. Despite being frightened by the large moose that breaks away from the pen, Leshawna holds on to it as it tries to throw her off, while Gwen and Bridgette, still arguing about their boyfriends, decide that the love letter was never meant for them and redouble their efforts to find the source. The moose passes them again, smashing through a bush and stomping on the marshmallows the bear was about to eat, with Leshawna still hanging on, securing a point for the Gophers.
Chris announces the final challenge, the X-Treme Seadoo Water Ski Challenge. The goal is to water ski behind a jet ski driven by a member of the opposing team, collecting flags for points. The twist is that the course is actually on land on a mud track, not in the water. Harold skis behind Heather and Lindsay skis behind Duncan. Lindsay announces that she's ready to compete, while wearing the "very fetch" bikini she mentioned earlier. Heather feels a sense of desperation, worried that Lindsay won't take the challenge seriously, which will ultimately cost them the win and the shower reward. Harold expects an easy win, and in the confessional he talks about how his personal status will rise.
This is it. We're tied for the win. Bad-to-the-bone Duncan is driving Lindsay. I'm skiing for the Bass. Winning is inevitable. Goodbye, wedgies, wet willies, and toilet face plunges! Hello…Dirty Harold!
”
Outside, when an overconfident Harold emerges from the outhouse, greets them, and trips over his socks, Gwen and Bridgette count him out and narrow it down to Owen or DJ, since Duncan has a crush on Courtney. Bridgette tries to ask DJ a question about poetry, but he dismisses her by asking strange questions out of the blue.
Harold is yanked off his skis and dragged through the mud when Heather starts the race with such a jolt that he is yanked off his skis and dragged through the mud; despite the pain and the mud, Harold manages to catch all five flags on the course. Chris tells Heather that she must get Harold to the finish line or she will be disqualified, but Heather has other ideas and plans to dump Harold so that the Bass will get no points.
I couldn't let that little dorkwad win, so I decided to cut him loose!
”
Heather turns around and pulls out a knife to cut Harold's line, yelling at him, "Game over, guppy!". But while her back is turned, she passes a rogue tree branch that hooks on and rips off her top, leaving her topless in front of Harold and the entire audience. She immediately realizes that her breasts have been exposed, much to the delight of Harold, who continues to stare. Heather tries to cover her breasts while Harold loses the challenge and crashes into some rocks. Since Heather forgot to drive the jet ski, she crashes it and is thrown into the air, landing on the bear and interrupting his latest marshmallow theft. Harold is left mangled, muddy and messy, but he moans satisfyingly "boobies," much to the dismay of his teammates. Gwen tries Owen, asking if he'll use the shower so he's ready for someone special, but he dismisses the shower and Gwen's question.
Back at the track, it's Lindsay's turn, and she has no trouble skiing in the mud, grabbing the first flag on a ramp and doing a backflip on the way down. Duncan tries to speed up to make her lose her balance, but Lindsay keeps going, collecting all the flags with a determined look on her face. Duncan doesn't want to cross the finish line and give the victory to the Gophers, so he deliberately crashes, sending himself flying into a tree. Lindsay keeps her balance and her momentum carries her across the finish line, winning the challenge for the Gophers. She passes Duncan (though she calls him "Doug") and apologizes, telling him that she really wanted the shower, and Duncan just gives Lindsay a cold "whatever". Geoff, who was stinking from the sock pile earlier, complains that he really needed the shower, to which DJ agrees.
So I landed in a pile of socks. Big deal. I can't stink that bad, can I?
”
Gwen and Bridgette are distraught that they haven't discovered the source of the love letter when Leshawna walks by and picks it up, asking who else has a "booty" as nice as hers. When Chris discovers this, he remarks that Leshawna has already received a number of other secret love letters. They now know who the letters are being sent to, but have no idea who wrote them.
At the campfire ceremony, Bridgette and DJ get marshmallows right away; Chris then throws a marshmallow to a distant Geoff, who is sitting in a tree with a skunk because of its pungent smell. This leaves an irritated Duncan and a placated Harold for the last marshmallow. Chris taunts both of them, telling them why they're both being voted out: Harold, who left for unknown reasons…
And Duncan for Lindsay beating him in the challenge, which gets on Duncan's nerves, so he confronts Chris about it, saying "the chick was determined". Chris then gives Duncan the last marshmallow, sending Harold to the Dock of Shame. Harold doesn't seem to mind, as he grabs his stuff and heads for the boat. On the boat, he waxes poetic about loving, losing, and seeing "boobies". He then reveals, to the shock of everyone watching, that he is the writer of the haikus and Leshawna's secret admirer. The two run together and kiss on the dock before Chef drags Harold into the Boat of Losers.
Leshawna and Harold? I was as shocked as you. But you didn't read the letters. [chuckles] Ooh, spicy.
”
On the dock, Geoff asks Leshawna if Harold saw her boobs, and Owen asks if they can see them, and gets a loud "heck, no" in response. Leshawna then wonders whose boobies Harold saw and tries to call out to him. Behind them, Heather comes out of her shower and Leshawna confronts her; Heather says she would never show Harold her "boobs" on purpose, but Leshawna is furious and chases after a screaming Heather to get her revenge, while Bridgette and Gwen say good night to each other.
Ironically, both patterns have two girls and one boy.
This is the only episode of Total Drama Island where there are more male campers than female campers. In all other episodes of the season, there are either more girls than guys or an equal anumber of both.
Excluding the scene being reused in the following episode's recap, this is the only episode in which a woman's breasts are exposed, and one of the few episodes containing female nudity.
Continuity
This is the third time that Trent has been injured by someone else during a challenge, but healed by the end of the episode. The other times are:
At the beginning of episode, Chris wore an outfit similar to the X-Wing fighters pilots in the Wars Star Wars franchise.
Harold calling himself "Dirty Harold" in the confessional is a reference to the Dirty Harry movie series and its eponymous main character, Harry Callahan, portrayed by Clint Eastwood.
At one point, Gwen calls Bridgette "Betty". This is a term used to refer to a female surfer.
Goofs
When Chris does the recap, he says that Leshawna won the challenge for her team, when it was actually Gwen who won.
He also says that there were eleven campers left in the last episode, when there were actually twelve. This is the beginning of his habit of forgetting how many campers were actually left in the game. Chris may have meant that there would be eleven surviving campers at the end of the episode.
When the moose kicks Owen in the face, his eyes disappear for a split second.
When Chris is explaining the challenges to everyone, DJ is seen without his hat, although he is wearing it before and after this shot.
DJ is also seen without his hat when Chris starts the plane. Geoff also does not have his hat in the same scene.
After Chris takes off his helmet, the top of his head is deformed.
When Trent falls and lands in the earth's crust, his pose doesn't match the pose of his shadow.
Once Trent hits the ground, his pose immediately changes to match the shadow.
In addition, his teammates never follow Trent's movements, as their eyes remain fixed on the sky even when Trent is clearly right next to them.
Although DJ failed to open his parachute earlier, he still has it open when he lands on the sofa.
When Harold leaves the confessional during Bridgette and Gwen's conversation, the camera on the confessional door is missing.
During the Seadoo Water Skiing Challenge, there are several goofs:
The challenge area is shown to be small and open. Leshawna even hugs Lindsay after she finishes her challenge. However, no one but Harold saw Heather's breasts, and no one even knew that Harold did.
At the beginning, Heather is briefly seen wearing a bikini bottom instead of her regular shorts. Additionally, part of her hair is layered over her left arm.
When Heather turns to cut Harold's rope, she is briefly seen without her arm.
In the widescreen version it can be seen that when Heather's top is ripped off, the ring of her top stays on. However, seconds later she is seen completely topless.
After Heather is sent flying, the outline on the back of her head is missing for a moment.
Lindsay passes Duncan a second time even though she had already crossed the finish line.
When Bridgette and Gwen hand the haiku to Leshawna just before they find out it was for her, the tear is seen going horizontally across the paper. However, when they first tore it, it was torn vertically down the middle.
Chris' necklace is gone when he asks Leshawna about the haiku.
When Harold was announced to be eliminated, he suddenly has his luggage when he leaves, although he is not shown getting it at the time.
The word "boobies" was censored as "booya" and "chest" on Cartoon Network. However, when Harold reveals that he has seen Heather's breasts, and when Bridgette asks him about it, the word is unedited.
Also, the word is unedited when Heather tells Leshawna that it was an accident.
In the scene where Leshawna hugs Harold before he enters the Dock of Shame, the smallest kumquat on her shirt shifts to the left.
After Harold has been eliminated, there are several goofs:
Duncan is absent.
Gwen, Leshawna, Lindsay, and Owen, who were members of the Screaming Gophers, are present when Harold goes to the Boat of Losers, although they were not present during the campfire ceremony.
Geoff has lost his foul stench, which he still had a few minutes ago.
When Leshawna confronts Heather, she doesn't mention that Harold saw her breasts. However, Heather somehow already knows that this is her reason for doing so.
