The nicest and naughtiest kids in class form a special bond during their timeouts by hanging out at a nearby game center. In order to spend more time there, the nice kid purposely gets into trouble, though their friends eventually distance themselves from them. Seeing how sad their new friend is, the naughty kid allows them to share their secret with the rest of the class.
Plot
The episode opens with Chef overseeing the kids fingerpainting for art class. When he checks up on Owen, the boy is covered with yellow paint, trying to paint a donkey but makes a smiley face instead. After Owen high fives Chef, covering him with paint as well, Chef realizes that the "paint" tastes like lemon. It turns out Owen had taken a lemon pie from the fridge and the "paint" is the lemon pie filling. Angered that Owen had eaten his lunch, Chef gives Owen a time-out, a first for him. A sad Owen walks to the time-out corner and is required to stay for twenty minutes with the only other kid there, Duncan. The two boys chat for a bit where Owen tells Duncan that unlike him, Owen never gets in trouble before as Chef always tells him, "Just glad you're okay.". Owen continues to wait for his twenty minutes to expire and grows rather impatient after ten short seconds. Suddenly, Owen notices that Duncan has disappeared and in his place is a teddy bear with a paper plate, with a face drawn on it, taped to its face. The real Duncan is inside a hole hidden underneath the rug. Afraid that Owen might tell Chef that he is missing, Duncan invites Owen to join him in the tunnel that he dug and replaces him with a basketball on a pillow to prevent Chef from noticing that the both of them are missing.
Duncan explains that the tunnel was supposed to lead to a field outside the daycare but instead leads to somewhere better, Chunk E. Cheddar's, an arcade that was closed down a month ago. Since discovering the place, Duncan purposely gets himself sent to time out to hang out there.
After playing for the 20 minutes that was Owen's timeout, Owen and Duncan return to the daycare, where Owen promises not to tell anyone else about Chunk E. Cheddar's and tries to get himself another timeout so he can go back.
Owen's first attempt at getting himself in a timeout involves him dancing "badly" outside in front of Chef, but Chef likes the dance and gets Noah and Courtney to join in, calling the dance the "Owen". Owen's second attempt is painting a donkey "badly", but this time he successfully paints a donkey, which Chef likes, and decides to hang it on his office window. Owen's third attempt involves him shaking the bookcase so that it's raining books. At first, it works, and Chef is about to give Owen another timeout, but then a book falls on Owen, and after removing it, Chef retracts his statement and instead says, "Just glad you're ok.", once again upsetting Owen.
Owen returns to Duncan to tell him that he has trouble getting into trouble and Duncan teaches him how to do so. Throughout the day, Owen does several bad things to his friends to spend more timeouts with Duncan, like dumping a bucket of sand on Harold, tying Izzy up with the swing that she was sitting on, and scaring Gwen with a pink stuffed bunny. While Owen enjoys being bad, his friends become increasingly angry at him for doing mean things at them as they thought Duncan was a bad influence on him. When Noah arrives with a pie his mom made, Owen pulls his pants down, giving him another timeout. But this time, Owen isn't happy as this made his friends distance themselves from him, with Noah saying that he might need a new best friend. Upon meeting with Duncan again at Chunk E. Cheddar's, Owen tells him that he doesn't want to play now. Not wanting to see his friend suffer like this, Duncan then hatches a plan to fix the problem.
And so, Owen and Duncan invite everyone to play at Chunk E. Cheddar's. Noah then gets worried that Chef might find out that they're gone but Owen and Duncan reassure him that they got things taken care of. Back at the daycare, an unhappy Chef is busy cleaning the daycare from all the mess the kids made and telling them that they have to sit in timeout until their parents arrive and that timeouts are not fun, not knowing that they placed decoys (i.e. the pink stuffed bunny for Beth, a lamp and glasses for Harold, a green stuffed crocodile with an orange wig for Izzy, and a potted plant and a stack of books for Gwen) in the timeout corner. Izzy then exclaims that timeouts are 'the bomb' and she and the kids all howl like wolves.
Credits
The credits go through a kaleidoscope effect, shuffling through shifting images of the kids spinning around and shrinking, until finally coming to an end as Chef's face pops out, using the same effect until it shrinks into nothing.
