  • Chef calls Courtney a "total drama queen" with emphasis, an obvious reference to the Total Drama series.

References[]

  • The carpet monster is a parody of the Graboids from the Tremors movie and tv series.
  • The outfits of the kids in this episode parody the Mad Max series of films.
  • As Courtney is explaining the rules, Owen is carving the statue of David.
  • At one point, Harold references He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by performing He-Man's catchphrase and signature pose/transformation.
  • Beth's visor blast resembles the one used by Cyclops from X-Men.
  • When a charged-up Duncan fires an energy blast from his palms, shouting "Haduncan", this resembles the move "Hadouken" introduced August 1987 in the video game Street Fighter.

Goofs[]

  • When the kids threw their shoes into the fire barrel, Gwen's shoes are seen, despite her not appearing in the episode.
  • When Courtney gets surrounded by the other kids, she appears wearing her sandals which disappear the next time she's in frame.
