Total Drama Island (2024) is the second half of the first season of the reboot—and second half of the sixth overall—of Total Drama.

Overview

Total Drama Island returns to Camp Wawanakwa with last season's sixteen contestants all returning for another chance at the $1,000,000 prize.

Format

• Returning Cast: For the first time ever, all of last season's contestants return to the game to compete in a rematch.
• Team Captains: The previous finalists are allowed to choose the members of their respective teams.
• Merge Composition: The merge consisted of eleven members.
• Immunity Idol: After the merge, an immunity idol is hidden on the island, which gives the contestant who finds it immunity from elimination.
• Cameos: Several returning contestants appear as part of this season's challenges.
• Finalist Helpers: All previously eliminated contestants return in the finale and choose a finalist to help through the first and second stages of the final challenge.

Max

Total Drama Island became available on Discovery+ in Italy—having not merged with HBO Max in the country yet—in December 2023, albeit being listed as episodes 14-26 of the 2023 season rather than a separate season. In Latin America, the season was made available March 15th as a separate season on Max. The season is expected to stream on Max in the United States following its television premiere.

BBC iPlayer

Following its airing on CBBC in the United Kingdom starting on January 13, 2024, the season will also become available to stream on the BBC iPlayer, also being listed as episodes 14-26 of the 2023 season.

ABC ME

The season premiered in Australia on February 3, 2024, on ABC ME, following the conclusion of the previous season. The entire season was added to ABC's streaming and catch-up TV service ABC Iview on the day of its premiere just like the previous season was. On the 16th of March, the finale aired, meaning ABC ME was the first way to watch the finale for this season without streaming it.

CN-Adjacent Streaming Channels

After the entire season had finished airing, the season was finally added to StackTV and Teletoon+ on April 15th, 2024. However, despite being listed as a separate season from the 2023 season, the episodes are still listed as being episodes 14-26 for unknown reasons.

Trivia

• From a technical standpoint, it has been mentioned that this season—along with its predecessor—was written as season two of a reboot. However, the show references events from past seasons and takes place in the same universe as the main series.
• This season—along with its predecessor—is the second time a singular season deal was cut in half to create two half-seasons. The first was with the show's fifth season (All-Stars and Pahkitew Island).
• This season, just like its predecessor, shares its name with the series' first season.
• This is the first season of the show to have the exact same cast as the previous season, with all contestants from Total Drama Island (2023) returning.
  • This is also the first season to reuse an opening sequence.
  • It is also the first season to reuse a main antagonist from a previous season, with Julia, who shared this role with Bowie in the previous season, now acting as the sole main antagonist.
• Axel, Caleb, Damien, Julia, MK, Nichelle, Raj, and Wayne all made it farther than they did in Total Drama Island (2023).
  • However, out of the eight of them, Nichelle is the only one who didn't make it to the merge, just like last season.
• This is the third season in which there is no team swap, following Total Drama Action and Total Drama Island (2023).
• This season features the earliest merge at the sixth episode.
• This is the first and currently only season where no contestants place third, as Caleb and Julia both tie for second place.
• This is the second season to not have an episode written by Alex Ganetakos.
• Millie, Bowie, and Priya, the finalists of the the previous season, were eliminated in the same order as they were in the finale of said season, but not back-to-back (Millie in the third episode, Bowie in the sixth episode, and Priya in the twelfth episode).

Scary Girl is eliminated first this time because she creeped out everyone while ironically trying to be normal.

Emma tricked Chase to try and film the second challenge as a stunt, but Chase got too obsessed and distracted, to the point of him not participating in the challenge.

Millie pushed Damien down a dangerous tube in the previous challenge, but he forgave her, unbeknownst to the others.

Emma tried to prove to her team that she is a "people person" in the "Would You Rather" challenge, but she kept getting the answers wrong.

Nichelle falls for a fake movie contract that Julia pettily forges after an insult, making her quit the game in order to film the 'movie'.

Bowie loses the first merge challenge against Damien, which let Julia convince everyone to vote him off instead of MK, saying that he was responsible for the Skunk Butts cheating.

Axel gets voted off due to her disgusting relationship with Ripper, along with being one of the bigger threats left in the competition...

...and Ripper ends up quitting the show to be with her over the million dollars, making it a last minute double elimination.

After Julia manages to get Zee to expose a secret about Caleb and Priya, Zee decides to reveal everyone else's secrets on TV as well, leading to his elimination.

MK gets voted off after Julia tricks her into crossing her right after she told everyone they wouldn't badmouth each other, but they remain on great terms.

When Damien gets voted off by The Hockey Bros for the sake of Caleb and Priya's relationship, he discovers that his immunity idol was stolen, but is quickly eliminated.

Raj gets voted off, separating The Hockey Bros for the first time ever, and they end with a tearful and touching goodbye.

In a shocking turn of events, Julia reveals that she had the immunity idol, causing Priya to finally meet her downfall.

...leaving Wayne as the winner.
