Trenton "Trent" was a camper from Total Drama Island as a member of the Screaming Gophers. He was a cast member on Total Drama Action and was the captain of the Killer Grips. He did not compete on Total Drama World Tour but appeared in the Total Drama World Tour Aftermath. He was seen with the original contestants on a yacht in the first episode of Total Drama: Revenge of the Island.

Personality[]

Trent is a relaxed, laid-back nice guy who tends to get along with everyone, even the immensely hated Chris. A straight-A student, he is intelligent but would rather not bring attention to it. He is known for his guitar skills, which impress several people throughout the series. He is also shown as being accident-prone, suffering a number of near-death experiences and mishaps during Total Drama Island, and sometimes in Total Drama Action. However, he usually recovers from these injuries by the next episode, showing himself to be a quick healer. As revealed in his biography, he also finds enjoyment in motorcycles and dreams of having his own bike shop one day.

He is a ladies man, having dated two girls since joining Total Drama and apparently many others before. In addition, Katie, Sadie, Lindsay, Gwen, and Beth have shown attraction to him. His lucky number is nine, as revealed in season two. In the same season, he is under the impression that he is losing Gwen to Duncan, and as a coping mechanism, he keeps involving the number in his everyday life. Unfortunately, due to a series of misunderstandings, heartache, and angry teammates, Trent's fate is crippled. Depressed about the events at first, Trent eventually brushes them off with the help of many new female fans. He is also able to maintain an awkward but friendly moment with his ex-girlfriend, even after his worst fear comes true.

Total Drama Island[]

Trent is the tenth contestant to arrive on the island in Not So Happy Campers—Part 1 and is placed on the Screaming Gophers. He immediately befriends some of the campers due to his relaxed and friendly personality. Trent performs well in the first challenge, jumping off the cliff without fear and encouraging Owen when he is too scared to jump. He quickly befriends Gwen, and he is the first person the goth loner opens up to.

In The Big Sleep, they rely on each other to stay awake, chatting about their interests and talking about the stars. Eventually, Chris starts telling the rest of the campers about the history of Canada, causing Trent to fall asleep, which upsets Gwen. However, Gwen manages to outlast the last Killer Bass member and wins for the Screaming Gophers.

Trentsing

Trent sings about Gwen in the talent show.

In Not Quite Famous, Trent is one of the three Gophers chosen for the talent show. He also spends a lot of time with Gwen, saving her a seat at the beginning of the episode and later grabbing an extra muffin for her at breakfast. However, when the two try to share a moment at the lake, Cody and Owen interrupt them by jumping into the water, soaking Gwen and angering her. That night, during the talent show, Trent successfully plays a song on his guitar about Gwen and how they should enjoy this summer to the fullest. His song is well liked by Chef and receives the highest score at the time. Later, Trent feels uncomfortable when Heather reads Gwen's diary to the entire audience, revealing her crush on him. In the next episode, Trent defends Gwen when Heather vows to eliminate her next, saying that what Heather did was harsh.

MimeTrent

Trent faces his greatest fear, mime.

In Phobia Factor, Trent promises to stay by Gwen's side while she is buried alive for five minutes. Trying to keep Gwen from getting nervous, Trent tells her about his fear of mimes; when he was younger, a mime followed him everywhere when he got lost while trying to find his mother. Suddenly, a mime appears and begins to chase Trent, forcing him to leave Gwen. Eventually, Trent jumps into the lake, forcing the mime to give up or have his makeup ruined. Trent is then distracted by helping Chris pull a prank on Geoff and has completely forgotten about Gwen. When he remembers, Trent quickly digs her up, although she throws her walkie-talkie at him in anger. This incident puts a strain on their relationship.

In Up the Creek, Trent and Gwen originally wanted to be canoe partners, but Cody, who also has feelings for Gwen, got to her first, forcing him to partner with Lindsay and Beth instead. As they paddle to Boney Island, Lindsay tries to flirt with Trent by lying on his lap, which he doesn't mind. Later, Trent gets trapped in quicksand and Lindsay tries to save him, only to get trapped herself. Both are eventually rescued by Cody. After his near-death experience, Trent has a conversation with Cody about their respective feelings for Gwen. In the end, Cody allows Trent to switch canoe partners so that Trent can be with Gwen again.

Carefully cut

Trent quickly has doubts about letting Lindsay prepare the fugu blowfish.

For the next few episodes, luck was not on Trent's side as not only he failed to complete his challenge, he is often injured while doing so. In If You Can't Take The Heat..., he was knocked out by Owen when he accidentally threw a crate of oranges on him and was taken out of the challenge early. He was partnered with Lindsay in Who Can You Trust? and ended up getting poisoned as she did not prepare the blow fish properly. Chef manage to resuscitate him and send him to the infirmary for the rest of the challenge. In X-Treme Torture, he and DJ must parachute from a plane onto a couch. However DJ accidentally pushes him off the plane, where he promptly forgets to pull his parachute and fails to land on his team's mattress. As a result, he breaks almost every bone in his body and ends up in a full body cast. In Brunch of Disgustingness, he had the most problem eating Chef's dishes due to his weak stomach and vomited several times. He even requires help from Geoff and DJ in order to eat a slice of the pizza. He also performs poorly in No Pain, No Game, and is out of the challenge after passing out when a skunk sprayed him.

A very unfortunate event

Heather kisses Trent in an effort to break him and Gwen apart.

Trent and Gwen's relationship blossom in Search and Do Not Destroy. He needs to get a key from a pole surrounded by sharks, he gets some fish and throws them away, the sharks chase them and he easily gets the key. After this, Trent helps Gwen in getting hers by pouring water into the skunks' nest. Gwen was grateful for his help and kisses him for the first time, beginning a relationship. From afar, Heather refuses to have another potential alliance other than hers and vows to break them apart. She had Lindsay lure Gwen to the Dock of Shame where she fake cries in front of Trent to gather sympathy from him, claiming that Gwen isn't the person Trent thought to be. When Lindsay signals Gwen's arrival to her, Heather kisses Trent. Gwen is heartbroken watching this and leaves the place in tears. In order to avenge her friend, Leshawna rallies Geoff, Bridgette, Duncan and DJ to vote off Heather, but since she is immune, they turn their target to Trent instead. As a result, Trent receives the most votes that night and is eliminated. Trent is shocked to discover that he was tricked by Heather and had a moment with Gwen. Just as they are about to share another kiss, Chris interrupts them and forces Trent to go to the Boat of Losers. As he sails away from the island, the other campers, except Heather, wave farewell at him and Gwen even cries.

At Playa Des Losers in Haute Camp-ture, Trent vocally admits that he is supporting Gwen to win. When Harold is hiding from Courtney, Trent pities him and gives him a piece of bologna. He also gets involved between Noah and Izzy's minor banter, siding with the latter about Noah kissing Cody in the past. Trent still harbors a grudge against Heather and states that he never wants to meet anyone like her ever again. At the end of the episode, Trent is one of the few people to accidentally vote off Leshawna.

TrentShirtlessGwen

Trent spends a majority of his time helping Gwen in the finale.

In The Very Last Episode, Really!, Trent, Cody, Leshawna, and Eva are the only people to remain on Gwen's side even after Owen announces the yacht party. He helps Gwen out a lot, even though Gwen still doesn't really trust Trent after the Heather and Trent incident from long ago. Despite this, Trent still did many things for her, such as wiping butter off her flagpole, blocking out Justin so that Gwen could stay focused in the challenge, and even carried a large rock to prove he still loved Gwen. No matter which ending occurs, Trent is reunited with Gwen. In Gwen's ending, Trent is able to encourage Gwen not to give up, allowing her to regain her confidence and win the season.

In Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island, Trent teamed up with Leshawna and Gwen to look for the case though they didn't have much luck on finding it. At one point, he become frustrated when the girls fell for Justin's charms. By the end of the episode, Trent became one of the fourteen contestants that qualify for Total Drama Action.

Total Drama Action[]

GwenGildedTrent

Trent and Gwen are the first contestants to receive a Gilded Chris Award.

Though Trent and Gwen are still going strong at the start of the season, he finds it hard to start a conversation with her and often makes a fool of himself in front of her. In contrast to him, Gwen is able to converse with Duncan easily due to them having common interests. Seeing how close Gwen is to Duncan instead of him makes Trent jealous and he starts to hate Duncan. In Alien Resurr-eggtion, Trent is paired with Gwen, Duncan, and DJ to locate the alien eggs. Although they lost DJ in the process, the three of them manage to escape the base with three eggs, but Chris drops a paint bomb at them. Amid the confusion, Gwen loses her lucky charm and they have lost the eggs they collected. Although Trent finds one of the eggs, he chooses to save Gwen's lucky charm instead. Feeling thankful, Gwen tells Trent to keep her lucky charm for safe keeping. Fortunately, Trent finds the other two eggs intact, making both him and Gwen the winners of the challenge. Much to their surprise; however, Chris announces that the two of them would be leading teams of their own against each other.

Duncan Trent

Trent develops a hatred towards Duncan for his childish pranks, and being close with his girlfriend.

In Riot on Set, Trent's jealousy towards Duncan intensifies when Gwen chooses him as the first member of her team. In response, he chooses the "beautiful Lindsay" first, hoping that it would make Gwen angry. After choosing the remaining members for his team, Trent desperately tries to win the challenge in order to impress Gwen, but his team ends up losing. Before the Awards Ceremony, Trent and Gwen have a conversation about their relationship and Gwen assures him that there is nothing going on between her and Duncan. This does not resolve Trent's dislike for Duncan however as the latter begins to prank him in Beach Blanket Bogus. Eventually, Trent's jealousy begins to affect his mind and he begins to ritualistically do things in nines, seeing the number nine as his "lucky number". This habit however, becomes misinterpreted as an obsession towards Gwen, and his sanity is questioned by most of the cast. After misinterpreting Owen's words that "girls like to win", Trent deliberately throws the final challenge to Gwen's team, hoping it will impress her. Gwen notices this and has a heart-to-heart talk with him in the woods. After making amends, the two attempt to share a kiss, but upon noticing Owen, the two of them chase him away.

TrentGwenBreakup

Gwen breaks up with Trent.

Still following Owen's advice from the previous episode, Trent continues to throw challenges on purpose in 3:10 to Crazytown, hoping that it would make Gwen happy. Gwen is well aware of his actions, but is unable to do anything until the challenge has ended. Believing that she is responsible for Trent's mental distress, Gwen breaks up with him. Trent is depressed to hear the news at first, but surprisingly takes it maturely. Unbeknownst to them, Justin had overheard their conversation and later forces Gwen to tell the truth to the other Grips about Trent's actions. In order to prove there is no alliance between her and Trent, Gwen regrettably tells the Grips to vote off Trent. The Killer Grips do as Gwen suggested and vote Trent off that night. As Chef Hatchet carries him to the Lame-o-sine, Trent desperately pleads to meet Gwen one last time, but to no avail. Trent's elimination is brought up many times by his team in The Chefshank Redemption in order to remind Gwen to throw the challenges for them. Feeling guilty for causing Trent's elimination, Gwen does as she is told and votes herself off that night.

TrentSong

Trent performs a song about his breakup with Gwen.

Trent's failed relationship with Gwen becomes the main topic in The Aftermath: I. From the green room, Trent finds out about Gwen's involvement in his elimination from Geoff and starts to cry. Trent refuses to leave the green room, even when he is called upon, and starts to play a song about Gwen's betrayal. After finishing the song, Trent leaves the room and heads to the main stage. There, Trent explains the truth about his obsession with the number nine, which turns out has nothing to do with his relationship with Gwen. Trent reveals that his obsession originated with a toy train that his grandfather gave him and shortly before he died a wheel fell off, leaving only nine the toy had only nine wheels, Trent's mother convinced him to use this as his lucky number. Upon hearing his story, most of the non-competing contestants felt sorry for him and a majority of them sided with him over Gwen. Trent then plays another song about his relationship with Gwen, which makes almost everyone emotional and even made Geoff and Bridgette reconcile. He concedes that he should move on from Gwen and considers starting to see other people. In the exclusive clip, Trent is forced to sneak out of the green room quietly while Katie and Sadie argue over which of them Trent would want to date.

Katiesadietrent

Trent has attracted many girls since his break up with Gwen.

Trent remains quiet throughout The Aftermath: II as a commentator, with Katie and Sadie constantly arguing over him. When Gwen is brought in as a guest, Trent attempts to ignore her but when she is about to enter Geoff's piranha-infested dunk tank, Trent finally stands up for her and admits that he is also at fault for his elimination. This helps to remove the heat off Gwen and the two make amends. Geoff, in order to boost the show's ratings, uses the opportunity to introduce a video guest named Kelsey, Trent's number one fan, holding a life-sized doll of him. Upon seeing her kissing the doll nine times, Trent is visibly disturbed. To make things worse, Geoff reveals that Trent had also been receiving a lot of fan mail since his break up. Fortunately for Trent, the discussion ends fast when Izzy attempts to regain her spot as a guest.

TrentFinaleVote

Trent passes out from Owen's stench.

Trent continues to watch the remaining of the season as a commentator. When Owen is being forced by Geoff into an electric chair in The Aftermath: III, Trent warns him about lying. When the finale between Duncan and Beth ends in a tie, Trent is the first person to ask them a question in The Aftermath: IV. Trent cryptically asks the finalists about his situation with Gwen, though neither of them are able to answer him without awkwardness. When it comes down to the voting, Trent passes out in the outhouse after Owen uses it and does not vote for a winner.

WhenICry

Trent and his band singing When I Cry.

After Total Drama Action ended, Trent forms a boy band, called The Drama Brothers, with Harold, Justin, and Cody. Their fifteen minutes of fame ended after an incident at a birthday party where they dove into the pool in the nude, and the band breaks up after he and Harold argue over their respective talents. Celebrity Manhunt also reveals that Trent had gained a new girlfriend whom he dumped via text message from Justin. After the bus ride to New York ends in disaster, Trent joins Geoff to find help. Because of this, Trent does not qualify for Total Drama World Tour and is shocked upon finding out that he missed a chance to be on another season.

Total Drama World Tour[]

Trent tied to the front of the bus

Trent is kidnapped by his fans in the exclusive clip.

In Aftermath: Bridgette Over Troubled Water, Trent is now a commentator on the Total Drama Aftermath. He is seen sitting in the peanut gallery with the rest of the non-contestants this season. It is revealed that Geoff used Trent's guitar as a piñata during a party he held for the non-competing contestants, much to Trent's anger. During the "Total Drama Fugitive" segment, Trent calls Duncan an idiot for quitting and giving up a chance for a million dollars (despite the fact that Trent himself did a similar action in the past). He, Justin and Sasquatchanakwa join Harold in singing Baby, as a reunion of the The Drama Brothers. After the commercial break, Eva reveals that they are being chased by their fans from a private girl school. In a deleted clip he is shown to have been kidnapped and tied to the moving school bus with all the school girls on board.

Trent once again appeared as a spectator in Aftermath: Revenge of the Telethon. He was happy to answer phones for the cause and was tricked (along with the other non-contestants) to be shark bait in an attempt of Geoff's part to raise money. However, this stunt gave them the millions dollars needed to keep the show and Aftermath running. After the explosion, Trent was hanging on to the main TV monitor, which was destroyed and non-functional. At the very end of the episode, it fell off its cables with Trent still gripping it, tiredly.

70-5

Gwen and Trent share a laugh.

In Aftermath Aftermayhem, Trent has an off-screen bet with Leshawna to see if Lindsay would remember Tyler's name and lost. While lining up before the "Total Drama Second Chance Challenge” starts, the anxious crowd of losers pushes Trent around and he is suddenly pushed into Gwen. Surprisingly, he greets her fondly with a smile even though Gwen is now involved with Duncan, something that should aggravate any normal ex-boyfriend, especially because he was jealous of Duncan when he and Gwen were dating. He had a conversation with her about Duncan and hides the fact that he knew it was coming all along. Trent does not qualify for the Second Chance Challenge, but willingly helps an injured Tyler, who was injured earlier in the episode, by pushing his wheelchair. When it is Tyler's turn, Trent wishes him good luck and pushes him to his square, only for Tyler to be eliminated immediately. With his task completed, Blaineley sends Trent to sit with his ex-girlfriend, hoping to stir up some more trouble. Instead, the former couple is still able to communicate peacefully and share a laugh after Gwen made a joke.

In Hawaiian Style, as well as in Hawaiian Punch, Trent is seen to be rooting for Cody over Alejandro and Heather to win the million dollars. At the end of the last episode, Trent is seen swimming away from the island as it becomes covered with hot lava after the volcano erupts, and he also laughed at Chris along with the other contestants.

Total Drama: Revenge of the Island[]

ExCampersROTIHD

Sadie and Katie hug Trent tight.

In Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er!, Trent appears on the yacht with the other twenty-three original contestants. He is being hugged from both sides by Katie and Sadie, but Trent doesn't seem to be enjoying it.

Total DramaRama season 1[]

DJ, Katie, and Trent stuck to gum

A younger Trent makes a cameo appearance in Gum and Gummer.

A child version of Trent appears in the spin-off. Trent's new appearance has him wearing overalls with the same logo that was on his older self's shirt.

In Gum and Gummer, it is shown that Trent, DJ, and Katie were former students. They were chewing bubble gum and blew bubbles that are so large that they float into the air and were blown away by strong winds. This event made Chef Hatchet enforce a strict no-gum rule at the daycare.

Total DramaRama season 3[]

Trent also appears in Gumbearable during Leshawna's prediction on what would happen to Owen after he swallowed gum.

Trent on a hoverboard

Trent's cameo in "Legends of the Paul"

Trent appears again in "Legends of the Paul" when he unintentionally scares Paul when he is riding a hoverboard.

Audition tape[]

Trentaudition

Trent sings a love song about searching for the woman of his dreams while playing the guitar in a recording studio. The song is about how he is a one-woman man. His singing is brief, as his string breaks. He then says "Aw, crap!", and the tape ends.

Camp TV[]

Trent (Camp TV)

Trent's Camp TV design.

Like many of the characters, Trent was present in Camp TV. Trent was also one of the main characters of the show, however, he was a late-comer to the camp. In terms of design, Trent is one of the six characters (the others being Duncan, Geoff, Lindsay, Harold, and Leshawna) to go virtually unchanged from his design in Camp TV. The only difference is that his shirt reads "Smith's" instead of having a handprint symbol. His character, however, was almost completely different from his of the current show. While he and Gwen are a couple in Total Drama Island, the two of them were bitter enemies in Camp TV (as they are seen in a promotional image trying to strangle each other). Trent also was very unpopular amongst the other campers, even immediately after arriving (to which Trent is fairly taken aback), while in the current show he is popular amongst all the campers. His lack of popularity is apparently because he was the only camper considered to be "pretty normal".
